Add to Calendar (iCal) Add to Google CalendarRide Don’t Hide is a nationwide community bike ride raising funds for mental health. Ride Don’t Hide is a movement that brings mental health into the open.
Ride Don’t Hide is the largest mental health bike ride in Canada with almost 10,000 riders and hundreds more family members, friends and volunteers across Canada taking part, raising almost $2 million each year for the Canadian Mental Health Association.
As we face our health crisis due to COVID-19, CMHA’s BC Division Victoria office is working differently to support our community. Safety is our number one priority. Adhering to direction from BC’s Provincial Health Officer, our annual Ride Don’t Hide (RDH) event scheduled for June 14, 2020 will still occur but not as a large group event. Instead, we encourage everyone to do their own ride as individuals and families.
What does this mean for you? You can participate in these ways:
- Ride or walk outside
- Ride a stationary bike inside
- Ride in spirit.
You will still register and, if possible, seek donations for your ride. We know that many people are struggling financially during the pandemic; hence our primary goal this year is participation to raise awareness about mental health. If fundraising or donations are not possible – don’t worry, please still join other riders across Victoria on June 14 by riding singly but together in spirit.
And please, wear a RDH shirt from a previous year if you’re cycling outside.
Mental health is more important than ever during this time. We need you to help keep Ride Don’t Hide alive in 2020 and keep the spotlight on mental well-being.
If you are riding outside please be sure to social distance and to follow the rules of the road.
